As I mentioned in a previous post, I was having difficulties focusing on reading during the last week of July. Thankfully I still managed to finish the two books that I was still actively trying to read since the other one (All Boys Aren’t Blue) ended up being one of my favorites for the whole year so far. One thing that definitely slowed down my reading was starting this blog. I’m happy I did (even though it’s mainly for my own enjoyment) but boy does writing reviews take a lot of time. I think I’m going to have to start annotating my books to make reviewing easier.
I’m so grateful to booktube and bookstagram for a lot of great recommendations for reading. Actually making an effort to read reviews has made my DNFs go pretty much down to zero. For me to have an average rating of more than 3 for a month is something that I’m really not that used to. There usually are at least some 1-star books and 2-star books, but this month there was just one. And I’m super excited about that.
Anyway, some light romance, contemporary ya, fantasy and one memoir made for a fairly enjoyable reading month and there are some books there that I’ll be thinking about for a long time afterward.
Tomorrow we’ll find out what August is going to look like.
