September TBR

All right. I’ve learned from my mistakes and have halved my tbr for this month compared with last month’s tbr. I’m also bringing back two of last month’s books because I reallyreallyreally want to read them.

I’m taking part in my first ever readathon and it’s hosted by @bookinitwithahtiya on Instagram and it’s called YONCÉ-a-thon. It is inspired by Beyoncé’s latest visual album film, Black is king. There are five challenges that I have to complete and as an extra challenge there’s also a 3x3 bingo board where I can try to go for Bingo. However, I think I’ll stick to just the main challenges. I’ll re-evaluate the situation at some point and see how hopeless my situation is.

Another first for me is that I’m also taking part in a buddy read where we read Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski. It’s hosted by @crofteereader and @thereadingchemist on Instagram and the group discussion is on the 13th.

Anyways, here are the challenges with the books I’ve chosen.

1. SPIRIT: A book by a Black author
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown

2. OTHERSIDE: A Black non-fiction book
Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi

3. BLACK PARADE: A book with intersectional Black identity
Finding Joy by Adriana Herrera

4. MOOD 4 EVA: A book featuring a Black protagonist that doesn’t center around trauma
Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert

5. JA ARA E: A book centering Black artistry and/or storytelling
Slay by Brittney Morris
